The Look of Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson’s look is one that can turn on a dime. From the fresh face girl next door to the sexy pop star, Jessica’s look always suits the moment. Jessica’s blonde tresses are mostly her own, though, during the summer you may notice some expert blonde highlights being added. This brings depth and shine to her hair. To create Jessica’s soft and full look, follow the steps below.

  1. Wash your hair and then, with a wide tooth comb, work through your hair and remove any tangles.
  2. Partially blow dry your hair to get rid of any excess moisture.
  3. Spray a volumising product on your hair or, if you prefer, mousse. Apply it from the tips to the ends to pump it up.
  4. Pin your hair up in sections and then take down one at a time and blow dry. Dryer in one hand and a brush in the other achieves this.
  5. Place your brush under the first section of hair at the roots. Keeping the tension on the hair, but not pulling, bring the brush down while the air flow follows the same direction. After each section is completed, you will then do step 6.
  6. Continue to blow dry using a large round brush. Wind hair completely up on the brush and lift at the roots.
  7. Finish with a light hairspray to allow hair free movement.

Now, for the easy look that is expected to be seen on the spring runways is affectionately termed the Merm. A take off from the classic look of the swimming mermaid beauties of the 50’s, this look is so easy all you have to do is keep your hands off of it!

  1. This works best with a natural wave in the hair. Towel blot and do not squeeze water out of your hair. A bit of moisture is good to hold the curl.
  2. Fingerpick you way through your hair, undoing tangles. Do not use a comb or brush.
  3. Apply your curl cream or gel, whichever one you prefer, or have on hand. Use a little more than usual and start at your hair line. Put a dollop at the nape of your neck and work in the ends.
  4. Here comes the fun! Start at the nape of your neck with 2 inch sections and twirl your hair into coils, starting at the end of the strand.
  5. Clip up as you go. Unclip into eight sections, and then twirl the top strands of your hair into these 8 sections. Scrunch your hair to the scalp, and then leave your hands off of it until it’s completely dry. Scrunch some more for extra volume.

This is a fun look. so tailor to suit you!
